Changes to Gliding Stars

May 30, 2024

Dear Gliding Stars Families,

We will be starting our 22nd season of skating this upcoming year. This program started with the introduction of an exhibition skate in November 2000. My daughter Taryn was a part of that skate and what I witnessed that day made me want to join the team. Dr. Jean Folkerth from the University of Findlay asked me if I would help with fundraising, and I agreed. It took 2 years, and we raised over $40,000 before we had our first group of skaters on the ice in January 2002 with our first ice show on April 28, 2002.

Then for the 2006-2007 season I stepped up to be a Co-Program Coordinator with Tim Montgomery. I found 3 Coaches to lead the program so that we could continue to skate.

The Gliding Stars of Findlay advisory committee decided in 2013 that we should hire an executive director and structure the committee more as a working board. I was hired in 2014 as the Executive Director. After 18 years of running this program, I am ready to step aside. The plan is to hire an assistant director to work alongside me this season and then move into the executive director position for the 2025-2026 season.

This program has seen many great transitions over the years to make Gliding Stars a well-respected non-profit in Hancock County and the surrounding Communities. We want to continue that legacy for many years to come. Both Bill and I have put many hours into this program, and we have many cherished and amazing memories over the years.

If you interested in this position please review the Job Description and email us your resume by June 15, 2024.

Sincerely,
Cindy Bregel
